We offer a variety of photography classes to help you "Improve Your Image."

Each class usually lasts between one and a half and two hours and covers a particular subject in depth.  Please look at each class description so you know what to expect.   After you take the first class and see how much you've learned you may be interested in our entire curriculum.  We offer the multiple class packages at a significant discount.  Please call or come by and ask about our full  curriculum specials. Also, throughout the year, we offer specialty classes like portrait photography around graduation time or family beach photography during the summer        

Photography

Taking Better Pictures

In this 'Photo 101' class you will learn how to apply the   principles of composition, exposure, and lens selection to improve the quality of your images.  You will be surprised to see how a basic understanding of these principles can dramatically improve your work.  Many students take this class multiple times.

Buttonology

This class will introduce you to the photo world beyond the GREEEN button by presenting an overview of the major features and functions of camera controls; what each feature does and how it will empower you to take better pictures.

Basic Digital Photography
Digital cameras create images handling the exposure electronically. As the image maker you can be in total control
using the shutter speed, aperture and sensitivity components. These classes will explore each of the components
involved in creating a digital image with hands-on exercises.
  • Shutter Speed - Learn how to stop action in your images by adjusting the shutter speed.
  • Aperture - Learn how to control depth of field (what part is in focus) in your images.
  • ISO - Learn how changing your camera's sensitivity to light will improve your images.
  • Sharper Images - Six techniques to apply to get sharper photographs.

Fix it With Flash

Here you will learn how to solve a variety of lighting problems using your on camera flash. You will also learn how to create stop action photos, how to use your fill in flash, and how to soften light to control harsh shadows.

 Studio Lighting Made Easy

Here you will learn to position studio lights to create dynamic portrait and product images.

 Close Up Photography, Close, and Closer

Want to take professional looking pictures of coins, stamps, jewelry, insects and more? In this class you will learn the ins and outs of close up photography by exploring the use of proxar filters, close up lenses, perspective correction, depth of field issues and tripod configurations.

 Composition - Elements of Visual Design

In this class you will learn how to make the most of every image using simple and advanced design techniques. Learn to create more powerful imagery by organizing the elements in your scene. This special class includes composition examples using people, landscape, nature and still life.

 People Photography 1

Learn the techniques of great portrait photography. Understand the various tools used for location photography, posing individuals and groups and manipulating natural light are examples of topics in this fun filled class.

 HDR Photography

High Dynamic Range photography is a technique that combines separate images of highlights, mid-range, and shadow areas to create an image closer to what you eye sees. In this class you will learn how to capture HDR images, including the equipment, software, and camera settings necessary for success.

 Let's Make A Collage!

Tell your unique picture story using multiple images. You will make traditional, dimensional, and floating collages using different techniques in this fun filled class. 

Digital Imaging

Digital Essentials
Do you know the difference between jpeg, tif, gif, raw and how to select the right one to use?  Do megapixels matter in which camera you select?  Are DPI and PPI the same thing?  Exactly what is a histogram and why should I use it?  This class will answer these questions and more, making your digital life easier and improving your digital images.  

What's in Your Camera Menu?
This class will move you through the components for operating your camera that are "hidden" under the menu button. From how to set the time and date on your new camera, choosing image quality, auto exposure bracketing, setting focus points and much, much more.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 1
Introduction to Photoshop Elements 10, how to set up preferences, organizer and begin using Full Edit.  Direction on making a new file, using selections tools and making a gradient.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 2
Working with layers, exploring additional tools - lasso, magic wand, crop tool, text tool, and creating shadows.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 3
Applying the clone tool, healing brushes to portrait retouching, learning to whiten teeth using the hue and saturation sliders and the detail smart brush.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 4
Restoring old images using the clone, healing and spot brushes, removing red eye.  Emailing images.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 5
Converting color images to B&W using a variety of techniques.  Adjusting color in images using variations, toning images, and changing color of specific parts of an image.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Class 6
Introducing the recompose tool and the photo merge tool.  How to make note cards and create slide shows.
 
Let's Make A Collage!

 Images in the RAW
Let your photos be all they can be. Most digital cameras can create RAW files. This class will take you from creating the RAW file through processed image ready for print.

Taking Care of Your Computer
This class will teach you how to take care of your computer, keep it from getting infected with virus, spyware, and malware, and keep it running as fast as the day you purchased it. Topics include disk defragment, start up settings and more.

Zootography

This is a very popular class where you receive instruction on a specific photography topic followed by a behind the scenes tour at the Gulf Breeze Zoo.

Momtography Review Session

This class is an opportunity for students who have taken the Momtography class to ask follow-up questions after practicing some of the skills Tamara taught. She will be reviewing the information covered in the class, answering questions and giving some lessons on editing pictures in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Picassa.
